What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of light touch therapy in which the client remains fully clothed at all times. It aims to promote self-healing within the mind, body and soul. The Reiki practitioner directs universal energy around the body enabling it to clear blockages and work on all aspects of the self to create harmony and resonance throughout the mental, emotional and physical body. This in turn creates a sense of peace, calm and deep relaxation which causes a reduction of stress, anxiety, depression and many sleep disorders.

A little more about Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing that has its origins in Japan with Dr. Mikao Usui.  Its translation into English is Spiritual Energy.  In other traditions this life giving energy is referred to by numerous different names such as Chi in the Chinese culture, Prana in India & the Holy Spirit in Christianity.

Reiki is NOT a religion and therefore has no religious belief systems attached to it for it to work.  Reiki actually compliments other beliefs and other therapies very well as it always work in cooperation with whatever else you may be doing, thinking or feeling.  It is an all-inclusive therapy that works for the highest good at all times.

Reiki doesn’t just work on people, it can be used to aid animals, plant life, add nutritional value to food and drinks, empower our goals, the only limitation to Reiki’s uses is your own imagination.

Reiki doesn’t only heal the here and now, it can be sent to heal any time/space.  So for instance it can be sent to the other side of the world to someone or it can be sent to a future self or even to your child self or past life.  It can be sent to heal an event/situation or to simply assist you through your working day.

The most important thing about Reiki is... it is completely unbiased.  It does not matter of your background, upbringing, education, status, what you may or may not have done in your life; Reiki will assist you for your highest good no matter what without judgement.

Reiki is LOVE and LIGHT

The 5 Precepts of Reiki

Just for today, do not be angry.

Just for today, do not worry.

Just for today, be grateful.

Just for today, work diligently.

Just for today, be kind to yourself and others.

Reiki is an holistic approach to living and well-being.  If we start to live by the Reiki precepts as set out by Mikao Usui we simply become more aware and whole as a person.  We begin to heal ourselves mentally and emotionally which will then lead to physical health and well-being and spiritual awareness/awakening.  If we fail to live by these principals at any given time, there is no need to beat ourselves up or make false statements such as “I am a failure” as we can simply start a fresh on a new day.  Every new day brings new opportunities for us to become a better version of who we were the day before and with every new day that comes we are offered more chances to bring about profound healing.

Healing starts in the mind, once we heal the mind we are then able to heal our bodies.  This is why Reiki is an holistic remedy, Reiki will 1st heal the mind which is often the root of most dis-ease which will then allow the body to heal itself rather than merely masking the physical symptoms.

Becoming a Reiki Healer?

Anyone can become a Reiki healer, all you need is an openness and willing to do so.  They say that Reiki calls to those it seeks to be its channel.  If you feel a calling to become a Reiki healer then the universe will conspire to make it so and always in divine timing.

If you receive the call you will next find or be drawn to a Reiki Master that is appropriate for you and your needs.  Once you have found the right Reiki Master for you then the next step is to attend a Level 1/1st Degree course/workshop.  It is during the Level 1 course that the student will be opened up and permanently connected to the flow of Reiki through the process of 4 attunements.  These attunements are an initiation/ceremony that the Reiki Master will perform in the passing on of Reiki.  Reiki is always passed from Master/Teacher to student.  During these attunements the students crown chakra is opened and a connection to Reiki is made and sealed.  Once that connection is made the Reiki will flow into the crown chakra at Will and will then travel down into the heart centre where it will then leave by travelling down the arms and out through the palm chakras to where ever the palms are directed.

Once attuned to Reiki, you as the Reiki healer will also feel the amazing benefits of Reiki just by being the channel for it.  You and the person you are giving Reiki to will both receive a full Reiki treatment.

As a Reiki healer you are not the one giving healing to others, you are simply acting as a channel for the Reiki to go where it is needed to go for everyone’s highest good.
